Description	The etiology of hypertension, which is one of the major risk factor of cardiovascular diseases, is still not fully understood. One reason is that blood pressure is a quantitative trait with multifactorial determination including numerous genes, environmental factors and epigenetic factors. Although the full manifestation of hypertension and its complications occurs predominantly in adulthood and/or senescence, the roots can be traced back to early ontogeny.
