  • Anterior pituitary cells express gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA)-A receptor-channels, but their structure, distribution within the secretory cell types, and nature of actions of these receptors have not been clarified. We found that mRNAs for all GABAA receptor subunits are expressed in pituitary and that alpha1/beta1 subunit proteins are present in all secretory cells. Activation of lactotrophs and gonadotrophs by GABA resulted in depolarization because GABAA channel reversal potential for chloride ions was positive to the baseline membrane potential

  • Buňky předního laloku hypofýzy exprimují receptory-iontové kanály pro gamma-aminomáselnou kyselinu (GABA), ale jejich struktura, výskyt v různých typech sekrečních buněk a funkční vlastnosti nebyly známy. Nalezli mRNA pro všechny podjednotky GABAA receptorů a alfa1/beta1 proteiny podjednotek u všech sekrečních buněk . U gonádotropních a laktotropních buněk GABA vyvolává depolarizaci, protože jejich reverzní potenciál pro chloridy má kladnější hodnotu něž klidový membránový potenciál (cs)
