| - Attenuated NO formation and increased ROS formation are often found in human and experimental hypertension. Two antioxidants (NAC and melatonin) were chronically administered to SHR with established hypertension. Both treatments improved NO/ROS balance, but only melatonin lowered blood pressure. This indicates that antihypertensive effects of melatonin are independent of NO pathways

- Snížena tvorba NO a zvýšená produkce kyslíkových radikálů jsou často pozorovány u lidské i experimentální hypertenze. Spontánně hypertenzní potkani s rozvinutou hypertenzí dostávali chronicky dvě různá antioxidancia – NAC a melatonin. Obě látky zlepšovaly rovnováhu NO a kyslíkových radikálů, ale krevní tlak byl snižován pouze melatoninem. To naznačuje, že antihypertenzní účinky melatoninu jsou nezávislé na změnách tvorby NO (cs)
