Description	Simultaneous administration of N-acetylcysteine prevented the development of NO-deficient hypertension in rats chronically treated with L-NAME (50 mg/kg/day). Lowering of oxygen radical production and/or their action on cell membranes was accompanied by partial restoration of NO synthase activity attenuated by chronic L-NAME treatment. Současně dochází k potlačení produkce kyslíkových radikálů resp. jejich působení na buněčné membrány a částečné obnově aktivity NO syntázy utlumené chronickým podáváním L-NAME. N-acetylcystein má lepší preventivní než terapeutické účinky, neboť nemá příliš velký účinek u již rozvinuté formy NO-deficientní hypertenze (cs)
