  • Nejvěrnější digitální reprezentace reálných materiálů zahrnuje dvojsměrnou texturní funkci (BTF). BTF je 6-ti dimensionální funkce závislosti odrazivosti materiálu na směrech osvětlení a pohledu a planárních texturních souřadnicích. Obrovská velikost BTF dat, typicky ve formě tísíců obrázů materiálu pro všechny kombinace směrů osvětlení a pohledu, omezuje jejich přímé praktické použití a tedy vývoj vhodné kompresní metody těchto dat je nevyhnutelný. Navržená metoda kombinuje planární segmentaci BTF dat s následným modelováním segmentačního indexu prostřednictvím MRF modelu. Tímto je umožnena syntéza tohoto indexu v libovolné velikosti což umožňuje bezešvě pokrýt rozsáhlé povrchy virtuálních 3D objektů. Původní BTF data jsou zde reprezentována množinou prostorově indexovaných BRDF, které jsou kombinovány v závislosti na směrech pohledu a osvětlení. Metoda dosahuje komprese BTF v poměru 1:100 a umožňuje jejich rychlou syntézu. (cs)

The BTF is a six dimensional function depending on view and illumination directions as well as on planar texture coordinates. The huge size of such measurements, typically in the form of thousands of images covering all possible combinations of illumination and viewing angles, has prohibited their practical exploitation and obviously some compression and modelling method of these enormous BTF data spaces is inevitable. The proposed approach combines BTF spatial clustering with cluster index modelling by means of an efficient Markov random field model. This method allows to generate seamless cluster index of arbitrary size to cover large virtual 3D objects surfaces.
