| Description
| - Území podél bývalé železné opony, která protínala Evropu od Severního až po Černé moře, se po více než čtyřicet let vyvíjelo specifickým způsobem. Nepřístupnost a absence intenzivního zemědělského a lesního hospodaření dala vzniknout desítky až stovky metrů širokému pásu – Green Beltu. Unikátní plán rozsáhlého biokoridoru – pásu přírodních biotopů – napříč Evropou na místě bývalé železné opony má dnes podporu i ze strany státních institucí i Evropské unie. Zelený pás prochází kulturní krajinou 22 evropských zemí v celkové délce téměř 8.500 km. Jeho šířka je značně proměnlivá, od desítek metrů až po několik kilometrů. Je převážně tvořen lesy blízkým přírodním, loukami, mokřady, lady, úhory a extenzivně obhospodařovanou zemědělskou půdou i dalšími biotopy a jako takový nemá v Evropě obdobu. Současně se zde však vyskytují území z pohledu ochrany přírody narušená až silně narušená, technogenní plochy a zemědělsky intenzivně využívaná půda. (cs)

Inaccessibility and absence of intensive agricultural and forest management contributed to the origin of a belt tens to hundreds of meters wide – the Green Belt. The unique project of a large bio-corridor – a belt of natural biotopes – across Europe in the place of former iron curtain is currently supported by the state institutions as well as the European Union. The Green Belt runs through the cultural landscapes of 22 European countries and its total length is almost 8, 500 km. Its width is changeable, from tens of meters to several kilometers. It consists mainly of forests close to natural state, meadows, wetlands, barrens and fallow land, and managed farmland including related biotopes. As such, it has no equivalent all over Europe.
