  • Cloned samplings of beech were exposed to enhanced UV-B irradiation (+25%)continuously over three growing seasons. Analysis of CO2 assimilation, variable chlorophyll a fluorescence, and pigment composition was performed in late summer of the growing season to evaluate the influence of long-term elevated UV-B irradiation. The resulta indicate a positive effect of 25% enhancement of UV-B radiation on photosynthetic characteristics, as well as on the capacity for utilisation of absorbed photons in PS2 photochemical reactions of beech leaves. Investigations of the gas-exchange parameters suggest that the UV-B stimulation is partially related to increased leaf thickness. The significantly higher retention of the deepoxidised xantophylls contributes to the increased resistance of PS2 in UV-B treated plants against photoinhibition.

  • Klonované sazenice buku byly po tři vegetační sezóny vystaveny zvýšené UV-B radiaci. Ke konci třetí vegetační sezóny (pozdní léto) byla pro určení dlouhodobého vlivu zvýšené UV-B radiace provedena analýza asimilace CO2, variabilní fluorescence chlorofylu a a analýza pigmentů. 25% navýšení UV-B se projevilo pozitivně na parametrech fotosyntetické charakteristiky a rovněž bylo spojeno se stimulací fotochemické účinnosti PS2. Gazometrickou analýzou zjištěná stimulace fotosyntézy může souviset s nárůstem specifické listové hmotnosti a s tím spojenou větší tloušťkou listu. Podstatně vyšší udržení deepoxidovaného stavu xantofylů přispívá k vyšší odolnosti PS2 rostlin vystavených UV-B radiaci proti fotoinhibici. (cs)
