Description
  • The main goal of the paper is to examine an attitude towards women of the most important poets of Czech modernism against the Vienna background, especially because many representatives of Czech literary modernism used to live in Vienna in the period of fin de sciècle (Josef Svatopluk Machar, Karel Toman, František Gellner or Stanislav Kostka Neumann). The main goal of the paper would be to answer the question if Czech literary modernism was from the point of view of misogyny only another copy of Vienna pattern. Perhaps, there was in Prague certain opposition towards Vienna gender crisis of the turn of the 19-th century that caused an extreme intellectual aversion towards women.
