Description
  • In the calculation of structural reliability often variation of material characteristics and action effect is considered. The accuracy of reliability assessment depends on how precisely it is possible to grasp statistical concepts of material characteristics and action effect. In this paper author would like to discuss the fact that concerning foundation structures the highest variation in reliability assessment is not caused with material characteristics or load effect but in the model of soil-structure interaction itself. Above mentioned problem is demonstrated in the example of strip foundation / foundation slab.
