Description	The goal of this study was to introduce a newly developed ten-day microbiotest with Artemia salina. In contrast to the classical 24 72 h tests prolongation of life of A. salina was achieved by an addition of 3% glucose to salt water (nutrient solution of salts). The validation criteria suggested are: (i) lethality of the test group lower than 10% (96 h) and lower than 20% (216 h); (ii) at the end of the test period the final concentration of the substance under investigation must be at least 80% of the initial concentration; (iii) the correlation coefficient of functional relationship of LC50 on exposition must be higher than 0.950 for test substances. The functional relationships found are of various kinds (linear, exponential, logarithmic). The use of these criteria is shown in the example of intoxication of Artemia salina by cadmium chloride, potasium dichromate, zinc sulphate and p-nitrophenol.
