| - Ethiopatology of periodontitis apicalis P4 was analyzed in group of 30 dogs. 1. Cause of apical parodontitis development. We excluded 3 patients because a primary cause of the disease could not be established in them. Out of remaining 27 patients with one primary cause of the disease, tooth fracture seemed play a dominant causative role in 22 (81.5%), while grade ? 4 (PDI) marginal parodontitis was found in 3 of them (11.1%), and other causes in 2 (7.4%). Distribution of relative quantity was used for statistical analysis and P-value was established (P<0.001). From our data it has been clear that tooth fracture was a far most common cause of apical parodontitis compare to all other factors. 2. Development of apical parodontitis along the roots. In one case we could not recognize typical changes, even though clinical symptoms developed and granulation tissue have been discovered during histopathology. That is why we excluded this patient. - Na souboru 30 psů byla analyzována etiopatogeneze apikální periodontitidy P4. 1. Hodnocení příčiny vývoje apikální periodontitidy. Tři pacienti z 30 byli vyloučeni, protože nebylo možné jednoznačně určit příčinu onemocnění. U zbývajících 27 pacientů byla zjištěna jako příčina onemocnění fraktura zubu a to ve 22 (81,5%) případech, zatímco stupeň 4 (PDI) marginální parodontitidy byl zjištěn ve třech případech (11,1%), a ostaní nespecifikováné příčiny ve dvou případech (7,4%). Fraktura zubu byla nejčastější příčinou v poravnání s ostatními příčinami ((P<0.001). 2. Vývoj apikální periodontitidy mezi kořeny P4. Jeden případ byl z hodnocení vyřazen, neboď i přes prokazatelně histologicky zjištěnou přítomnost granulační tkáně se nepodařilo zjistit příčinu onemocnění. Ve zbývajících 29 (100%) byl postižen distální kořen, zatímco postižení meziálního kořene bylo zjištěno u 13 (44,8%) pacientů. Délka trvání onemocnění byla stanovena mezi 1 až 48 týdny.
