  • Předpokládá se, že apoptóza hraje důležitou roli při odontogenezi, přesto mechanismus tohoto není zcela jasný. Signály buněčné smrti jsou spojeny buď s vnitřními apoptickými postupy, přepínanými především v mitochondriích, nebo vnějšími, které jsou zprostředkovány receptorem. Různé kaspázy, intracelulární cysteinové proteázy, jsou klíčovými součástmi apoptózy v obou případech. Kaspáza-8 (zevní), kaspáza-9 (vnitřní), a kaspáza-3 (hlavní krok u obou) byly zkoumány v korelaci s dentální apoptózou. (cs)

Cell death signals are communicated either by the intrinsic apoptotic machinery, switched mainly in mitochondria, or by the extrinsic ones, receptor mediated. Different caspases, intracellular cysteine proteases, are key components of apoptosis in both cases. Caspase-8 (extrinsic), caspase-9 (intrinsic), and caspase-3 (central step in both pathways) were investigated in correlation with dental apoptosis.
