Description	Bei vier Pferden kam es nach der Kastration zu einem Darmvorfall. Drei Pferde wurden ohne Verschluß der Kastrationswunde mit unbedecktem Samenstrang (1, 2), bzw. mit bedecktem Samenstrang ohne Ligatur (4) unter Feldbedingungen kastriert, ein Pferd (3) mit Verschluß der Kastrationswunde an der Klinik. Bei einem Pferd (2), das im Stall des Besitzers durch Mitarbeiter unserer Klinik kastriert wurde, wurde der beidseitige Darmvorfall durch Reposition des Darms und Verschluß der Bauchhöhle behandelt. Zwei Pferde (1, 4) wurden von praktizierenden Tierärzten mit provisorisch im Hodensack fixierten Darm an die Klinik eingewiesen und erforderten eine Laparotomie und Enterektomie. Als Komplikationen traten bei einem dieser Pferde (4) eine ernste Durchfallerkrankung und am zehnten Tag nach der Kastration eine Obstruktion des Ileum auf, weswegen das Tier erneut laparotomiert wurde. Bei dem Pferd (3), bei dem die Kastrationswunde primär verschlossen wurde, kam es zu einem extravaginalen Darmvorfall infolge eines R The intestinal prolapse occurred as a complication of the castration in four horses. One horse (3) was castrated using the primary closure technique at the clinic. The bilateral intestinal prolapse in the horse castrated in its home stable (2) by the clinic staff surgeons was treated using the reposition of the intestine and the closure of the abdominal cavity. Two horses (1, 4) were treated by private practitioners using temporary fixation of the bowel in the scrotum. Consecutive laparotomy and enterectomy was performed in both of them at the clinic. Severe diarrhoea followed by the ileal obstruction on the tenth day after castration appeared at one of these horses (4). The ileal obstruction was treated surgically.
