Description
  • Effects were studied of the passage of forwarders on soil and damage to root systems of spruce along an extraction trail. The site is characterized by medium-textured soil of the pseudogley type under favourable moisture conditions. Due to the passages, soil compaction occurred to a depth of 20 cm, soil porosity decreased by 5% (in volume) and soil aeration decreased by more than 5%. Substantially higher values of soil resistance were shown in soil pit 2. Pressure conditions measured on sensors placed at a depth of 10 cm under the soil surface reached a value ranging from 0.09 to 0.1 MPa in plots uncovered with slash and 0.03 to 0.07 MPa in plots covered with slash.
