  • The Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique was used to evaluate genetic diversity among 19 soybean cultivars included in Czech national collection of soybean genotypes and their potential as a new sources of genetic variations for soybean breeding programs. Out of 40 random primers used in RAPD reactions only 22 showed polymorphism acceptable to effective characterization of this cultivars. Totally 122 highly reproducible RAPD fragments were generated, 55 of them were polymorphic (46 %). However, for previously observed low degree of RAPD polymorphism in case of Glycine max, fragments with low level of informativeness were evaluated too. Data were recorded to a present-absent scale (l or 0 for each allele) and genetic distance and clustering of genotypes were calculated using genetic distance measures of Nei and Li (1978) and UPGMA method. Different kinds of resulting dendograms were generated by TreeWiev software and results were compared with available pedigree information.
