  • The study is aimed at the evaluation of nitrogen transformation in soil and the level of mineral nutrition of Norway spruce stands in the plateau part of the north-eastern Krušné hory Mts. (Forest District Janov) in plots with various technology of reclamation measures. The total deposition of sulphur and nitrogen in the region significantly exceeds limits of soil neutralization capacity and forest ecosystems are still in a serious danger. Leaching of cations from soil (particularly Ca, Mg and K), release of aluminium ions (as the result of acid inputs) and trends to excessive nutrition by N (as the result of nitrogen inputs) cause absolute or relative nutrient shortage. Based on the results obtained, proposals are derived for the optimization of site preparation technologies for forest regeneration.
