Description
| - Two groups of female chickens of the Ross 208 hybrid combination were fattened intentionally slow by restrictively fed wheat-type (W) and maize-type (M) cereal mixtures. Control group (C) was fattened by the commercial feed mixture ad libitum. Birds were slaughtered when reached the live weight of 2200 g.Fatty acids in breast meat (BM) and thigh meat (TM) were determined by gas chromatography after hexane/2-propanol total lipid extraction. Total PUFA content in TM lipids, and LNA and LA concentration in both BM and TM lipids of chickens of the slow growing groups was lower as compared to C, despite the higher content of LA + LNA in W and M diets in comparison with the C diet. Less LA was deposited in TM lipids of W than in M-chickens. EPA in thigh meat lipids did not differ between all groups of chickens, and EPA in breast meat lipids of W-chickens and AA content in W or M chickens was higher both in breast meat lipids and in thigh meat lipids than in fast growing chickens.
