Description
  • The chapter includes: -- recapitulation of terms and term definitions relevant to evapotranspiration (ET), -- survey of measurement methods and ET assessment in forest stands and a small watershed, -- new ET outcomes determined by the basic method and by advanced methods. The method of ET calculation from water balance equation is presented as a basic method, where ET is calculated as only single unknown from complex of measured water balance components in a forest stand. The method of calculating evaporation from soil surface and ground floor vegetation by weighing set of evaporimeters is also mentioned. From advanced methods is presented: -- continual measuring the volumetric moisture of soil profile in a forest stand and calculation of ET from soil moisture differences, -- ET calculation from daily variation of baseflow between day and night from the small forest watershed, -- measurement of suction pressure of soil profile by tensiometers and calculating ET, checking it by precipitation runoff relation from the small forest watershed. The concerned sites represent mountain and submountain localities, Norway spruce and European beech stands, mature and young stands, forest stands and a small watershed influenced by different silvicultural and technical measures. The chapter is compiled on the basis of released articles published in reviewed journals by the authors.
