Description	The level of the accumulation of CO2 in soil air is assessed to evaluate potential effects of the passage of heavy machines on soil and roots of trees. A method has been prepared based on an instrument chain created by CO2 gauges CARBOCAP GMT 221 and measuring probes CARBOCAP GMP 221 with a basic measuring range up to 3% CO2 accurate to 0.02% completed by a mobile data logger Minikin 1. The probe uses the principle of measuring the absorption of CO2 infrared rays included in air. Using this method, it is possible to measure actual values of the content of CO2 in soil air as well as to record their development during time. Values of the CO2 concentration in short-term measurements amounted to eg, 0.8 -- 1.4 % (sporadically even markedly more) in the track of machines (check 0.2 -- 0.5%). Through the long-term monitoring the level of CO2 concentration in the course of several years, the steady significant increase was proved of the content of CO2 in soil compacted by the passage of machines.
