| - Během expedic Scinetific research of Mongolia 2003 - 2005 byly posány nové křídové (130 miliónů let staré) paleontologické lokality výskytů zkamenělých dřev. V návaznosti na dosavadním téměř stoletém výzkumu obdobných lokalit v Mongolsku, který prováděly expedice z celého světa, bylky zjištěny nová fakta o fosilizaci, barevných změnách fosilních dřev i paleoenvironmentálních interpretacích někdejších druhoroních lesů. Zkoumané území bylo původně pokryté lesy střídanými mozaikou močálům jezer a řek. Činnost nedalekých aktivních vulkánů způsobovala, že toto území bývalo zasahovanáno tufy. Sopečný materiál pohřbil lesy ve všemi složkami, tvořícími tehdejší ekosystémy. Mezi vybranými vzorky zkamenělého dřeva byly rovněž objeveny unikátní fragmenty dřevních hnilob. To vše bylo zachováno díky kontinualitě procesů fosilizace a petrifikace. (cs)
- New Cretaceous (130 million years old) paleontological localities of petrified forests were described during the expedition projects of Scientific research of Mongolia 2003 -- 2005. Together with exploration of localities described during last century in Gobi desert by foreign expeditions from whole world had been observed new facts of the fosilization, colour changes and paleoenvironment interpretations of ancient forests in this area. The examined area covered by paleoforest occurred in a area of many swamps, lakes and rivers. Nearby great active volcanic system regularly showered the area with ash. The mud and ash covered ancient forests and everything that lived there. Among the selected samples of petrified wood are also uniquous tree fragments attaced by palaeo funguses rot. These were saved together with wood matter by special type of fossilization - petrification.
