Description
  • This study compares effects of 2, 3, 5--triiodobenzoic acid (TIBA) and a flavonoid quercetinu (Q). In spite of the fact that both these compounds are inhibitors of the polar transport of auxin, a number of experiments demonstrated that their properties are different. If the flax seedlings were decapitated and deprived of one cotyledon, the axillary bud of the remaining cotyledon grew up more intensively in 81% of cases while TIBA (applied in the form of a 0.5 % aqueous lanolin paste on the remaining cotyledon) induced a correlative reversal so that 72% of axillars of removed cotyledons grew up more intensively. TIBA inhibited highly significantly the growth of axillary buds of remaining cotyledons; however, if Q was applied on the remaining cotyledon in the form of a 0.5 % aqueous lanolin paste, this inhibition was not significant. Also in stumps of apple petioles TIBA showed an inhibiting effect on transport of auxin because it accelerated auxin-inhibited abscission while Q showed on this abscission

(cs)
