  • Pea seeds were swollen in different concentrations of solutions of the cytokinin benzyladenine (BA). Compared to control plants, low concentrations of BA 0.002 -- 0.05 mg.l-1) did not affect the growth of stems and roots of the seedlings, but higher concentrations of BA (0.2 - 4 mg.l-1) inhibited stem and root growth in proportion with the concentration. In control plants the stems were much longer than the roots and this was significantly reversed in favour of the roots if the BA concentration was 0.2 mg.l-1 BA. The effect of BA added to the medium when cultivating pea seedlings %22in vitro%22 was similar. Concentrations of 0.7 and 3.3 mg.l-1 BA inhibited the growth of roots and epicotyls of 6-day old seedlings and statistically highly significantly increased ethylene production. Within 3 to 6 hours of amputation of the root of 5-day old pea seedlings the levels of the cytokinin zeatin increased in the apical parts of the stem.   • Semena hrachu byla zbobtnána v různě koncentrovaných roztocích cytokininu banzyladeninu (BA). Nízká koncentrace BA 0.05 mg.l-1 neovlivnila při porovnání s kontrolními rostlinami růst lodyh a kořenů 12 dní starých klíčních rostlin, ale vyšší koncentrace 0,20 -- 4,00 mg.l-1 úměrně koncentraci růst lodyh a kořenů inhibovaly. Poměr délky lodyh ku délce kořenů dosahující u kontrolních rostlin hodnoty 1,14 byl vlivem BA v koncentraci 0.20 mg.l-1 průkazně snížen na 0.91. Také u 6 dní starých klíčních rostlin hrachu pěstovaných %22in vitro%22 BA dodaný do média v koncentraci 0.70 a 3.30 mg.l-1 ovlivňoval inhibičně růst kořenů i epikotylů a vysoce průkazně zvyšoval produkci etylenu o 250 a 430 %. Za 3 hodiny po odříznutí kořene u 5 dní starých klíčních rostlin hrachu byla ve vrcholových částech lodyh trojnásobně zvýšena hladina cytokininu trans-zeatinu. Do 48 hodin po odříznutí kořene následoval opět jeho postupný pokles. Počáteční vzestup zeatinu v lodyze indikuje, že absencí kořene dochází k poklesu růstov (cs)
