Description
  • Plants respond to pathogen attack and/or external stresses by rapid changes in gene expression, resulting in the de novo syntheses of specific peptides and proteins such as glutathione and/or phytochelatins. The mentioned peptides can protect a plant against heavy metal. In our work we aimed on study of growth and viability of early somatic embryos of Spruces (ESEs) treated by heavy metals (cadmium and lead) for twelve days. In addition we studied the content of glutathione and phytochelatin in treated ESEs by adsorptive transfer stripping technique coupled with differential pulse voltammetry Brdicka reaction. We found out that the synthesis of the thiols in ESEs treated by cadmium was four times higher than in ESEs treated by lead.
