Description	When speaking about Czech export development activity the internationalization of small and medium enterprises has often been discussed. Small and medium enterprises (SME) have, in the long run, taken share of 99% of all the firms on the Czech market and they amount for over 52% of the total output in the last seven years. Small and medium enterprises in the Czech Republic count for an important element of the international trade, as may also be seen in other EU countries. The aim of this article is to present various views upon the internationalization process of enterprises taking place in the globalizing world with emphasis on the language competence of SME in the Czech Republic. The internationalization of small and medium enterprises has become the center of interest not only of scholars, but also of the general professional public.
