| - Evropská unie se z původních zakládajících 6 zemí postupně rozšířila na současných 27 členských zemí, v nichž k 1. 1. 2006 žilo podle statistické evidence 492 964 961 obyvatel. Všeobecně lze konstatovat, že současný demografický vývoj lze charakterizovat snižováním porodnosti a plodnosti, což se s ohledem na vývoj ostatních demografických ukazatelů projevuje ve zhoršující se věkové struktuře. Vývoj věkové struktury je v předložené práci sledován za období 1996-2006, za které jsou Eurostatem zveřejněna na webových stránkách potřebná data (rok 2007 je neúplný). U mladé generace do 14 let poklesl podíl z 18,1 % v roce 1996 na 16,0 % v roce 2006, u produktivní populace ve věku 15-64 let se podíl prakticky neměnil (přičemž uvnitř skupiny u mladších docházelo k poklesu a u starších k nárůstu) a u věkové skupiny 60 a více let se zvýšil z 14,9 % na 16,7 %. I přes uvedené negativní strukturální změny počet obyvatel EU roste, což je však způsobeno migračním přírůstkem. Změny ve věkové struktuře mají bezprostřed (cs)
- European Union gradually increased from original constituent 6 countries to present 27 member countries. According to statistical records, 492 964 961 inhabitants lived there as of 1 January 2006. Generally, it is possible to note that the present demographic development can be characterized by decreasing birth-rate and fertility, which becomes evident in worsening the age structure with respect to the development of other demographic indicators. In the presented paper, the development of age structure is monitored within the period 1996-2006. For this period, EUROSTAT published necessary data on its web pages (2007 is not complete). In a young generation up to 14 years, its proportion decreased from 18.1% in 1996 to 16.0% in 2006, in a productive population at the age of 15-64 years, the proportion did not virtually change (within the group, in younger a decline and in older an increase occurred).
