Description
Vstupní časové řady byly modifikovány Hodrick-Prescottovým filtrem a metodou logaritmické diference prvního řádu. Výsledky jsou interpretovány v kontextu s použitou metodikou měření. Při interpretaci empirických výsledků jsou zohledněna specifika a možné zkreslující efekty použitých metod modifikace časových řad. (cs)
  • The paper focuses on the integration process of the current candidate countries to Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). The official Maastricht criteria indicating preparedness of a country to adopt European common currency have become a subject of criticism. The evaluation of actual economic readiness and convergence is closely related to decision about the appropriate time horizon for Euro adoption. The Optimum Currency Area Theory (OCA) provides alternative approach to assessment of countries ability to join common monetary union. The main aim of the paper is to apply the OCA theory in order to assess the preparedness of selected candidate countries for Eurozone membership from that mentioned theoretical prospect. The criterion of business cycles similarity was used in the analysis. The application part of the paper involves methods for decomposition of aggregate activity indicators time series. Namely the Hodrick-Prescott filter and First Order Differences filtering methods were used for identif
