| - Background: Due to the increasing occurrence of obesity and low physical activity (PA) reported in school children there is a need to investigate PA patterns of preschool children. Our aim was to identify the PA of preschool children in comparison to the PA of teenagers and young adults. Methods: PA of 104 Czech preschool children (aged 5?7yrs), 1174 teenagers (aged 12?17yrs) and 787 young adults (aged 18?24yrs) was determined using Caltrac accelerometery. PA was evaluated on the basis of activity energy expenditure (AEE ? kcal?kg-1?day-1). Subjects were monitored over 7 days to include a weekend. Results: The AEE in preschool children was significantly higher in comparison to all age groups of teenagers and young adults during both weekdays and at the weekend (p < 0.0001). On weekdays during leisure?time, preschoolers were considerably more physically active than all categories of teenagers and young adults (p < 0.001). - Úvod: Hledání příčin stále častějšího výskytu obezity a nízké pohybové aktivity (dále PA) u školních dětí, nutí odborníky zkoumat PA již u předškolních dětí. Hlavním cílem této studie bylo zjistit úroveň PA u předškolních dětí a srovnat ji s PA teenagerů a mladých dospělých. Metodika: Pohybová aktivita 104 českých 5-7letých předškoláků, 1174 12-17letých teenagerů a 787 18-24letých mladých dospělých byla monitorována akcelerometrem Caltrac a hodnocena podle aktivního energetického výdeje (AEE - kcal?kg-1?den-1). Jedinci byli monitorováni v průběhu 7 dnů zahrnujících i víkend. Výsledky: AEE předškoláků byl významně vyšší než AEE u všech ostatních skupin teenagerů a mladých dospělých v pracovních i víkendových dnech (p < 0.0001). Ve volném čase v pracovních dnech byli předškoláci výrazně pohybově aktivnější než všechny ostatní skupiny sledovaných jedinců (p < 0.001). U předškoláků nacházíme podobnou úroveň PA v pracovních I víkendových dnech, na rozdíl od teenagerů a mladých dospělých. Závěr: Ukazu (cs)
