| - Purpose. The main aim of the paper is to determine the tendencies of changes in the structure of motor activity in youth in the countries undergoing socio-economic transformation. Bask procedures. The basic method to collect data was a diagnostic poll. In the study, a questionnaire technique was applied with a standardised questionnaire form. The study was performed within the periods of 1996-1997 and 2002-2003; it included almost 9000 girls and boys from city secondary schools from south-western Poland, as well as eastern Bohemia and Moravia. Main findings. The research results point at some apparent changes in the youth's motor activity. Among the most important are positive changes in organising motor activity for young people by various institutions; these are depicted by a higher percentage of youths undertaking motor activity, as well as by a general increase in the time devoted to motor activity. - Cíl: Hlavním cílem této studie je popsat trendy a změny v pohybové aktivitě mládeže v zemích, které prochází socio-ekonomickou transformací. Postupy: Hlavním metoda určená ke sběru dat byl diagnostický průzkum. Ke sběru dat byl použit standardizovaný dotazník. Studie byla realizována v období 1996-1997 a 2002-2003. Zahrnovala téměř 9000 dívek a chlapců ze středních škol v jihozápadním Polsku, Východních Čechách a Moravě. Hlavní zjištění: Výsledky výzkumu poukazují na zjevné změny v pohybové aktivitě mládeže. Jednou z hlavních pozitivních změn je organizování pohybové aktivity pro mládež různými institucemi. Vyšší procento mládeže se účastní pohybové aktivity. Byl zaznamenán také narůst doby, kterou mládež věnuje pohybové aktivitě. Tyto tendence se objevují ve obou zemích. Nicméně, opakovaně velmi vysoká a ještě dále vrůstající pasivita dívek je negativním trendem. V obou zemích je patrná stagnace v rozšiřování nabídky možností pro pohybovou aktivitu.
