Description
  • Monitoring of the Montagu's Harrier (Circus pygargus) was carried out in the intensively used farmland of central Moravia in 1974-2013. In the years 1974-1985, irregular breeding of altogether 10 pairs was recorded. In the period 1991-2013, the species nested in the study area annually with the total number of 270 pairs. Breeding density was assessed for two areas: in the wider monitored area (299.26 km2) it ranged between 0.67 pairs/100 km2 in 1991 and 8.69 pairs/100 km2 in 2010, while in the core nesting area (203.1 km2) it ranged between 0.98pairs/100 km2 in 1991 and 12.8 pairs/100 km2 in 2010.
