  • We compare the simple approach convenient with the quantum oscillators with the original formalism used to analyze the quantum correlation between the signal beams in the traveling wave setup of experiment due to Zou, Wang, and Mandel [Phys. Rev. Lett. 67, 318 (1991)]. We consider not only the regime of a single photon beam, but also that of many photons per beam. In the regime, where one could use a classical argument, we propose novel measures of correlation. We conclude that the two approaches are soclosely related, because, in the original formalism, the state of stationary fields with many photons in each is represented by a restriction to intervals of the interaction length with a single photon in each.
