  • Flow cytometry was used to determine ploidy levels in the Czech and Slovak taxa of the genus Pseudolysimachion (W.D.J. Koch) Opiz (= Veronica auct. p. p., Scrophulariaceae). On the whole 123 populations from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria (one locality) and Hungary (one locality) were analyzed. Two cytotypes were revealed in P. maritimum (L.) Á. Löve et D. Löve and P. spicatum (L.) Opiz: diploid (2n = 2x = 34) and tetraploid (2n = 4x = 68). In both species the tetraploid cytotype prevailed over the diploid one (P. maritimum: 41 tetraploid samples from 45 studied; P. spicatum: 57 tetraploid samples from 58 studied). No obvious correlation between morphology (and/or distribution, ecology) and ploidy level was found in P. maritimum. The two cytotypes of P. maritimum have no taxonomic significance. Tetraploid populations of P. spicatum morphologically belong to two different subspecies (subsp. spicatum and subsp. fischeri Trávníček). Á. Löve et D. Löve a P. spicatum (L.) Opiz: diploidní (2n = 2x = 34) a tetraploidní (2n = 4x = 68). U obou druhů převládaly tetraploidní cytotypy nad diploidními (P. maritimum: 41 tetraploidních vzorků z 45 studovaných; P. spicatum: 57 tetraploidních vzorků z 58 studovaných). Protože nebyla zjištěna žádná zřejmá korelace mezi morfologií (a/nebo rozšířením či ekologií) a ploidií, nemá existence 2 cytotypů u P. maritimum taxonomický význam. Tetraploidní populace druhu P. spicatum morfologicky náleží ke 2 poddruhům (subsp. spicatum a subsp. fischeri Trávníček). Zjištěný diploidní cytotyp (pouze 1 populace) je předběžně klasifikován jako třetí poddruh P. spicatum (morfologicky je blízký asijskému poddruhu subsp. porphyrianum (Pavlov) (cs)
