  • Plant morphology was studied in five cultivated Cucurbita species: C. argyrosperma, C. ficifolia, C. maxima, C. moschata and C. pepo. A total of 51 characteristics of leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds were described and documented by photographs, scanning and herbarization. The most important characteristics for distinguishing species are located on male flowers (shape of the calyx, shape and indumentation on column), female flowers (colour of stigma), seeds (seed shape and colour, seed margin shape and colour, shape at funicular part), peduncles (shape) and leaf lamina (shape of basal sinus). Other features such as the leaf shape in outline, the silver mottling on the leaves and the fruit shape vary considerably even within particular species. Such characteristics are valuable for the determination of the extent of infraspecific morphological variation.   • Morfologie rostlin byla studována u pěti pěstovaných druhů rodu Cucurbita: C. argyrosperma, C. ficifolia, C. maxima, C. moschata a C. pepo. Bylo hodnoceno celkem 51 znaků na listech, květech, plodech a semenech. Byla prováděna fotodokumentace, scannování a herbarizace. Nejvýznamnější znaky pro určení druhu jsou lokalizovány na samčích květech (tvar kalicha, tvar a odění sloupku), samičích květech (barva blizny), semenech (tvar a barva osemení, tvar a barva okraje semene, tvar semene u funikulu), stopce (tvar) a listu (tvar bazálního sinu). Ostatní znaky, jako tvar listu v obrysu, kresba na listu a tvar plodu jsou značně variabilní i v rámci jednoho druhu. Takové znaky jsou důležité pro určení rozsahu variace uvnitř druhu.Hodnocení položek genových zdrojů C. maxima a C. pepo ukázalo nesrovnalosti mezi morfologií položek a jejich taxonomickým zařazením (např. C. maxima PI 175698). Taxonomické zařazení položek je možno provést po hodnocení řady morfologických znaků v průběhu celé vegetace. Výsledky získ (cs)
