  • The O-J-I-P chlorophyll fluorescence rise in 70 points systematically displaced on the adaxial surface of two Cucurbita maxima leaves differing in the stage of senescence and level of fungal infection were measured using a fast point to point method. Several parameters of the JIP test were evaluated from the curves. Statistical distribution of the fluorescence parameters within the leaf area changed from a narrow and asymmetric one detected for the younger and almost healthy leaf to a wide and symmetricGaussian distribution of the older and more infected leaf. A coefficient of independence Delta was defined for a pair of parameters derived from the same curve using general statistical description. Due to worsening of the state of Photosystem II, the D elta value for some pairs of basic fluorescence parameters changed. It is suggested to characterize the heterogeneity of Photosystem II function within the whole leaf area by the shape of statistical distribution and mutual dependence of basic fluorescen
