Description
  • The basis of this study in terms of the of the regional turn is represented by intra-cultural development in the town structure. This development opens up possibilities for various statements regarding the intra-cultural controversy in the Bohemian Lands. On the basis of the history of the theatre and the theatre association in the provincial town of Šumperk (Mährisch-Schönberg) it is shown how the decay of the patriarchal life circumstances caused by industrialisation also brought along the dissolution of the homogeneous town culture. The bourgeoisie started to adhere to the culture of the metropolis of Vienna and so the aesthetic modernism began to influence the province, nevertheless an important part was also played by nationalism and political ideology which had had no impact before the end of the 19th century.   • Ausgangsbasis dieser Studie sind im Sinne des regional turn zunächst die intrakulturellen Entwicklungen im Stadtgefüge, die schließlich Aussagen über die interkulturellen Kontroversen in den böhmischen Ländern erlauben. Anhand der Theatergeschichte und des Vereinslebens der Kleinstadt Mährisch-Schönberg wird gezeigt, wie der Niedergang der patriarchalischen Lebensverhältnisse durch die Industrialisierung auch die Auflösung der homogenen Stadtkultur bewirkt. Durch die zunehmende kulturelle Orientierung des Stadtpatriziats an der Metropole Wien dringt zwar die ästhetische Moderne in die Provinz, zugleich aber auch Nationalismus und politische Ideologien, die bis zum Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts hier kaum eine Rolle spielten.
