Description	Spatial aspects of social exclusion and their impacts on lifestyles bring to the forefront a number of interesting processes taking place in present-day cities. The emphasis on creating an atmosphere of %22cleanliness%22 in our urban environment, which rules out any variety, heterogeneity and/or cosmopolite character, could not be overlooked. This accent on %22purification%22 of urban space, together with segregation processes and mechanisms arising therefrom, is impossible to ignore. Contrary to its very purpose, such purification leads, at the end of the day, to the development of alternative lifestyles in a socially excluded environment. A number of adaptation mechanisms, life scenarios, hierarchies and internal differentiations can be found in there. These segregation processes' specificity resides in their connection with the course and context of the post-Communist transformation after 1989. The transformation processes redefined the cities' physical, social and symbolic space, bestowing new meanings and functions on them. The emphasis on space ethnicisation played a specific role in these processes.
