| - The text describes the life and works of John of Garland (c1195 - 1252/1270), one of the foremost teachers of the High Middle Ages. John of Garland esteemed himself to be one of the last really classical educated men of his time. In this role he protested against the popular text books Doctrinale (1170) of Alexander of Villedieu and Grecismus (1212) of Eberhard of Béthune. He wrote his own competing manuals such as the Compendium Grammatice (1234) and Clavis Compendii (1234) that should replace the both detested text books. Later, as it became clear that John's aim didn't succeed, John made even new editions of the Doctrinale and Grecismus. The text discusses the critics of John of Garland and gives a look on the influence of the Doctrinale and Grecismus on John of Garland's own writings. (en)
- Příspěvek popišuje život a dílo Jana z Garlandie (cca. 1195-1252/1270), který byl jeden z nejdůležitějších pedagogů vrcholního středověku. Samotný Jan se viděl jako poslední opravdu klasicky vzdělávaný muž svého času. V této pozici protestoval proti tehdy nejpopulárnějším mluvnicím, Doctrinale (1170) Alexandra z Villedieu a Grecismus (1212) Everarda z Bethune. Psal vlastní gramatická díla, jak např. Compendium Grammatice (1234) a Clavis Compendii (1234), které by měly nahradit učebnice, proti kterým vystoupil. Když mu bylo jasné, že záměr mu nevyšel, sestavil novíé edice obou učebnic Doctrinale a Grecismus. Příspěvek ukazuje, jaký vliv měly právě tyto dvě práce na vlastní dílo Jana z Garlandie.
