Description	El 31 de diciembre de 2010 fue promulgada en Paraguay la Ley de Lenguas, con el objetivo de reglamentar dos artículos de la Constitución Nacional de 1992, que había otorgado al guaraní el estatus de lengua co-oficial y había dado bases para la reforma educativa nacional bilingüe. Aparte de reglamentar algunos aspectos de la convivencia de ambas lenguas oficiales, la nueva Ley se refiere también a las demás lenguas amerindias en Paraguay. El artículo presenta la reglamentación más interesante desde esta perspectiva y se?ala los puntos problemáticos en los que los autores de la ley tuvieron que ceder en comparación con el anteproyecto mucho más ambicioso. A pesar de ello se confirma que la nueva Ley de Lenguas supone un instrumento importante tanto para la promoción del guaraní, como para el apoyo y la protección de las lenguas indígenas paraguayas. On December 31, 2010, Languages Act was enacted in Paraguay, in order to regulate two articles of the Constitution of 1992 which had granted co-official status to Guaraní language and had given basis for bilingual reform of national education. Apart from regulating some aspects of coexistence of both official languages, the new law also refers to other Amerindian languages in Paraguay. The article presents the most interesting rules from this perspective and points out the topics in which the authors of the law had to yield, in comparison to the much more ambitious proposal. In spite of that, the new Languages Act is an important tool for promoting Guarani and for the support and protection of indigenous languages in Paraguay. (en)
