Description
  • Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death and has become an increasingly urgent worldwide health problem (incidence in men 34.01100 000, in women 13.61100 000; mortality in men 29.3/100 000, in women 11.0/1 00 000) (globocan.iarc. fr, 2008). Mortality is increasingly associated with distant metastases development. The minimal residual disease (MRD) in solid tumours means the presence of occult tumour cells in the body of a patient who has undergone curative surgery and has no timher clinical signs of the disease. These isolated occult tumour cells are considered to be the precursors of micrometastases. The MRD testing in lung cancer patients can eliminate complicated surgical procedures in patients with systemic molecular dissemination of the disease and can improve the prognosis. The aim of our pilot study was to establish and validate PCR-based method for MRD testing in lung cancer using different molecular markers.
