  • Byla studována schopnost dvou organických frakcí a dvou vodných extraktů z listů opomíjené andské plodiny jakonu (Smallanthus sonchifolius Poepp. & Endl, Asteraceae) zhášet volné radikály a inhibovat lipidovou peroxidaci v několika modelech in vitro. Celkový obsah fenolových látek v extraktech byl 10,7 - 24,6 %. Extrakty zhášely DPPH (IC50 16,14 - 33,39 µg/ml) a HO● (IC50 4,49 - 6,51 mg/ml). Nezhášely radikály kyseliny fenylglyoxylové, ale zpomalovaly jejich vznik. V systému xantin/xantinoxidasa, tvořícím superoxidový radikál, se aktivity extraktů pohybovaly v rozmezí 26,10 - 37,67 ekvivalentů superoxiddismutasy/mg. Vzhledem k tomu, že jeden z extraktů inhiboval xantinoxidasu, byl testován zhášecí efekt extraktů na superoxid tvořený neenzymatickou cestou (IC50 7,36 - 21,01 µg/ml). Extrakty inhibovaly lipidovou peroxidaci mikrosomálních a mitochondriálních membrán indukovanou terc-butylhydroperoxidem (IC50 22,15 - 465,3 µg/ml).
