Description	Fiscal policy makers have been facing to new challenges in recent years, especially in EU countries after financial crisis. This is happening in faith that fiscal deficit and fiscal stance have to be sustainable in long term; otherwise, it will have a negative impact on the economic growth. Therefore the aim of this paper is to examine impact of fiscal budget deficit on economic growth in EU 15 countries (excluding Greece) in period from 2000 to 2013. The deficit appears to be detrimental to growth. The analysis which follows methodology of omitted fiscal variables has been employed to find out other nexus. Results suggest that the role of fiscal deficit might be depended on the process of its creation. If deficit increases as result of tax cut, then appears to have positive effect, while raising deficit by government expenditures is negative influence on economic growth.
