  • The paper discusses public support businesses in the internal market of the European Union through the prism of the new rules. The need to reform the regulation of state aid in the European Union was not only caused by external socio-economic factors, but also by many other factors associated with system characteristics functioning of the Union. At the end of 2013 expired validity of key public support tools, began to be prepared multiannual financial framework of the European Union, together with the rules of implementation of structural funds for the period 2014-2020, while there was a strengthening of economic and budgetary surveillance of the EU Member States, especially those in the euro area. The reform of state aid in the European Union is not only stimulate economic growth and competitiveness of the internal market, in line with the Europe 2020 strategy, but also rationalizing legislation and accelerating decision-making process in matters of public support. The article focuses on the most commonly used provisions, Commission Regulation no. 651/2014, which is in accordance with Article 107 and 108 TFEU declaring certain categories of aid compatible with the internal market (General Block Exemption Regulation) and Commission Regulation no. 1407/2013 on the application of Article 107 and 108 TFEU to de minimis aid. Modernization of public support should improve the functioning of the internal market through more effective policies aimed at the reduction of distortions of competition, maintaining a level playing field for individual market operators and combating protectionism.
