  • During steel treatment in the secondary metallurgy units, slag-making additions in order to steel desulphurization are added with the aim of creation of refining slag for improvement of kinetic conditions of desulphurization in the interface slag – metal. Refining slags represent a poly-component melt and its desulphurization properties are influenced by a number of parameters, such as: temperature, oxygen activity in the slag and in the steel, but also its chemical composition. Mentioned paper deals with verification of the results of desulphurization course of steel obtained by the model study in the physical model of the ladle with the help of operating experiments in the homogenization station (HS) with the inert gas. Proper operating experiments were made in the 180 t ladle which served as a model for creation of the physical model in the geometric scale 1 : 9. The homogenization station seems to be appropriate for the study of desulphurization because its primal aim is intensive homogenization of steel under the slag which has got a weak desulphurization effect. However, conditions during the whole experiment are constant because both chemical composition and slag temperature don't significantly change during the course of the whole process. The operating experiment was based on the similar methods as the model study. In the regular time intervals, samples of metal and slag were taken for the following evaluation of kinetics of the loss of sulphur in metal and the appropriate increase of sulphur content in slag.
