Description	Friction composite materials used in automotive brake systems contain a lot of components of various chemical composition and properties. Their analysis is complicated and it is necessary to use several methods. X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) is suitable method but preparation of reference materials is necessary. Metallic particles are analyzed by ICP or AAS methods after partial decomposition. Major component is carbon that is determined using combustion of samples and detecting of CO2 by infrared spectrometry.
