Description	This paper deals with diffusivities, thickness of the diffusion and penetration layers of silicon in the weld joint of two steels and subsequently it deals with judgment of influence of the mentioned parameters on the stability of the joint. The joint is made of low-alloyed CrMoNiV and silicon steel. The measurement of silicon redistribution was carried out in the temperature range 500-750°C with grading of 50°C. The distribution of silicon perpendicularly through the welded interface was investigated by energy dispersion X-ray micro-analysis (EDX). Theoretical base for the mathematic modeling of the concentration dependencies of silicon was the solution of the 2nd Fick's law. This law was applied on one-dimensional, unsteady diffusion with relevant initial and boundary conditions. The results confirmed considerable change of concentration of silicon in the narrow interval in the neighborhood of the welded joint plane. The resulting equations were transformed into dimensionless form.
