Description	Six-stream CCM No. 3, supplied by the CONCAST STANDARD, was started in run in ISPAT NOVÁ HUŤ a.s. in 1999. It casts quadrate billets 115 mm, 160 mm and small slab 102x160 mm. Tube mould of this casting machine need to be untimely discarded from the reason of work security, because their lifetime is diminished with deep longitudinal grooves in the region of meniscus. The emergence of grooves relates not with the number of heats cast on the mould. This problem was consulted with the supplier of the CCM, some remedies were proved, but in spite of that the problem was till now not satisfactory completely solved. On of possible causes could be the enhanced temperatures of copper wall, which exceeds the temperature of recrystallization and so decreases the mould hardness and subsequently causes the formation of grooves.
