Description
| - Photonic crystal fibers are still quite new technology, which still waiting for broader use in the fields of telecommunication and sensing technologies, and for now there are only few commercial applications, like a fiber optics lasers, nonlinear fiber devices or fiber bend sensors. Despite of this, wide utilization of this technology in future is, due to increasing demands on capacity, accuracy and integration, unavoidable. One of the newer technology is a plastic photonic crystal fiber - microstructured polymer optical fiber. This material allows us to create fibers with even more various structures then in conventional silica glass. One of these structures is suspended-core, also known as a high-delta. These fibers has both multimode and singlemode characteristics and looks as one of the most promisable for utilization as devices for biomedicine and optic networks. Recent progress in the work with this fiber will be presented in this paper.
