Description
  • The paper deals with application of the FETI (Finite Element and Interconnecting) method to finite element solution of contact problems while taking into account another nonlinearity, namely the large displacements and rotations. Numerical experimentsshow (i) achieved accuracy on a Hertzian contact problem, and (ii) convergence rates of a typical contact problem with large displacements and finite rotations while the response of the body system is evaluated by both the FETI method and the classic penalty one. In the end, merits and drawbacks of the FETI method, and its applicability to the contact problems along with other non-linearities are discussed.
