Description
  • Incorporation of a vapour cavitation into the computational models of fluid film bearings assumes that two kinds of areas exist in the bearing gap. In noncavitated regions a hydrodynamical effect is developed. In cavitated areas the pressure remains constant. To be conserved the continuity of flow the pressure gradient must be zero on common borders between both regions. If the bearing with a deep central groove can be considered as short, then the pressure distribution taking into account a vapor cavitation can be expressed by analytical relationships. For solution of the equation of motion a modified Newmark method has been adopted.
