Description
  • This paper describes the application of the Simulation Based Reliability Assessment method (SBRA) to serviceability assessment of tall buildings. The serviceability criterion, which is represented by horizontal acceleration, is derived. As a part of the reliability assessment, it is compared with the reliability function which is represented with human perception threshold of horizontal acceleration. By analyzing the resulting reliability function using simulation technique, the probability of failure can be obtained. Additionally, sensitivity analysis is performed to identify critical stochastic input variables, also together with parametric study to observe change of resulting probability of failure for different height of building.
