Description	This article deals with the advantages and disadvantages of distant testing when evaluating the level of technical/practical skills. It summarises the structure of testing, which allows - with the use of network access - for easy data collection, for their central storage and further processing. The authors also focus on some problematic points that inevitably arise with this kind of testing, namely in connection with the tested persons, the experimenters and the psychologists, who consequently evaluate the data. This article is based on a study of 1,650 children that was realised in a project by the Methodological and Evaluation Centre (MEC) & the Department of Pedagogical and School Psychology at the University of Ostrava. The issues addressed here are therefore based on practical experience with collecting large amounts of data through distant testing.
